We are enjoying the snow and a lot of travelling due in part to the launch of the brand new Schreiber and Terrace Bay web sites. Launched on November 29th, 2007 the townships partnered up and contracted TBayIT to create a good looking and user friendly site that can be shared between both towns and still have their own individual presence on the Internet. This site servers as an informative site for local residents (Live), economic and business information for new and potential businesses (Work) and a tourism information (Play).

The site incorporates three separate web sites:
• Township of Schreiber at www.schreiber.ca
• Township of Terrace Bay at www.terracebay.ca
• Shared site at www.schreiberterracebay.ca or www.terracebayschreiber.ca

Navigating to any of the home pages will initially bring up the shared welcome page and divert you to the specific pages of either township. Navigating further will bring you to the shared features on the shared portion of the web site.

Some of the shared features include:
• Shared Calendar for Local Events
• Business Directory using the Google Maps API
• Local Job Bank for Employment Opportunities
• Shared Guest Book for Residents and Tourists
• Send a Postcard to a Friend Feature
• Panoramas and Videos Showcasing the Beautiful Scenery

Not all the credit can be taken by us, the marketing committee and local residents of the Townships played an integral part in the development of the web site. All the photos used were submitted by local residents in a recent photo competition. By far this is one of our favourite projects to date.
