February 19, 2006 - Why pay 99¢ per MP3 song? When you can pay only 5¢?
I'm sure you have heard of iTunes and may have used or have someone in your family using it. That is Apple's plan and it is going great. Since it's inception iTunes is now approaching one billion downloads. I definitely recommend that if you are a music fan and not a fan of viruses or malware - paid music is the way to go. Many of the common peer to peer (P2P) networks are loaded with viruses, fake songs, porn and other garbage. To avoid this garbage, the masses are switching to purchasing songs from popular sites such as iTunes. But unknown to many, there are dozens of other sites out there that offer extremely affordable music downloads at the same high quality and the prices start at 5¢ per song. You are probably asking yourself what's the catch? Well, these sites are based in Russia where copyright laws and music licensing is quite different than what it is in the US and Canada and you may be bending some laws regarding copyrights if you download from them - but nevertheless, much safer and closer to being legal than using P2P applications.
